Fluoride Analyzer and Control System

The RealTech Controls Model ETX Fluoride Analyzer utilizes an ECD S80 Fluoride Ion Selective sensor that converts the analog signals from the electrode cartridge into a digital protocol that allows two-way communications with the transmitter. The identity of the sensor, measurement type, and serial number, are stored in the sensor’s memory along with three calibration registers. The large, back-lit display shows the measurement (or both measurements if dual channel), temperature, relay statuses, and mA % output. When connected to the ETX digital analyzer, the sensor’s information is uploaded to the analyzer configuring the display and outputs of the transmitter to the values appropriate to the sensor’s measured parameter.

Description

The Model ETX Universal Transmitter is used in combination with the S80 Fluoride Ion Selective Electrode to achieve a cost effective Fluoride Analyzer.
The Fluoride Ion Selective Electrode cartridge develops a millivolt potential proportional to the concentration of free Fluoride ions in the measured solution. The model S80 Fluoride Ion sensors are used with the Model ETX Transmitter with its dual channel and pH compensation capabilities. These analyzers will measure free fluoride ions from 0.02 ppm to 2,000 ppm in the optimum pH range of 5-8 pH. Outside this pH range, large errors will occur in the acid range and small errors will occur in the alkaline pH ranges. In acidic solutions fluoride ions react to form hydrofluoric acid, HF, pKa = 3.2, at 3.2 pH half of the available fluoride ions are HF and half are the measurable F–. This characteristic can easily be compensated for by adding a pH sensor into the measurement contoller.

Accessories

It is very important that the S80 Fluoride sensor electrode remains constantly submerged in water so it does not try out.
The EMEC NPED range of probe holders is designed so that when there is minimal or no flow, water is still present in the bowl. The design of the bowl also eliminates siphoning and ensures the sensor electrode stays submerged in water. The bowl can either be installed in-line or in a side-stream sample line, depending on the amount of flow required.
