Nitrate Analyzer and Control System

RealTech Controls offers two types of analyzers / controllers for monitoring and controlling Nitrate in industrial environments. The Nitrate Analyzer is designed to monitor the nitrification process directly in a wastewater treatment plant’s aeration basin or clarifier unit.

  • The Model ETX Nitrate Analyzer uses a HYDRA®-DS combination electrode that simplifies nitrogen (nutrients) and Ammonium measurements.  Its advanced sensor uses ISE technology to measure the concentration of dissolved nitrate as nitrogen (NO3-N) in water, and features a self-compensating design, where the unit automatically eliminates chloride ion interference, for high accuracy and reliability. An optional pH or NH4+ electrode is also available in the HYDRA®- NO3 sensor. While not required for the measurement an optional pH or Ammonium electrode can provide valuable information about the process. Temperature is measured and used to compensate each of the measurements.

  • The Model CA6 Nitrate Analyzer incorporates UV light technology for accurate, low range measurements of Nitrate in water. Nitrate is absorbs UV light in the range of range of 190-240 nm, therefore reagents are not necessary making this system cost effective and maintenance friendly.

Hydra-DS Nitrate Analyzer

Description

The Model ETX with the HYDRA-DS Nitrate sensor uses three electrodes to determine the NO3-N concentration. This incorporates a Nitrate ion electrode, Chloride ion electrode and a pH electrode. It is designed for use in all kinds of municipal wastewater applications, or when ever Ammonium is present in the water. This analyzer has proven itself popular in the industry, and an application article was featured in the Automation World magazine.

Description

Ideal for measuring Nitrate less than 1ppm up to 100ppm, the Model CA-6 Nitrate Analyzer is an online sequential sampling analyzer, where a sequence of sampling, analysis, and result processing is performed and repeated using colorimetric methods.

Nitrate dissolved in water absorbs UV light in the range 190-240 nm.
The xenon lamp produces a UV light radiation that pass through the sample water in a quartz measuring cell. The receiver analyzes the light pulses at two different wavelengths, the measurement wavelength (220 nm) and the reference wavelength (270 nm), at which the sample constituents of interest do not absorb. This dual-wavelength measurement allows turbidity and dissolved organic compensation.
